This conversation will focus on the creation of a Dignity Philadelphia service book. We will use the upcoming liturgical season of Advent to experiment with this idea. In preparation for this conversation, we are asking everyone to reflect on the following questions:
1. What themes of the Advent season do you think speak to the values, experiences and spiritual lives of our community members at Dignity Philadelphia? 2. What practices and customs are most important to you during the Advent season? 3. How could we as a community use the season of Advent to reach out to our own community as a welcoming religious community? What could be included in the Service Book that could help new members understand our community?
What is this project?
The Liturgy Alignment & Presider Roundtable (LAPR) project is a collaborative initiative to bring together Dignity Philadelphia’s presiders, leadership, and members to review our liturgical practices, clarify the reasons behind what we do, and create greater continuity across services.
Project values

Connection - Providing opportunities for greater community building and conversations between our presiders and our congregation, as well as between presiders themselves.

Collaboration - Working together to address needs in our community, not letting things rest on just one or two people’s shoulders.

Clarity - Grounding in a shared understanding of our values and why we do what we do.

Continuation - Creating practices and resources that will set Dignity Philadelphia up for success to continue our mission for decades to come.
